Visit to the Mentally Disabled Children Association Selangor
On the 3rd of February 2019, Yayasan Kadir & Fatimah visited the Mentally Disabled Children Association Selangor in Banting. Our team was joined by medical staff representatives from Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara who distributed toiletries, mandarin oranges and ang pow to the residents of the home.
The centre had a total of 74 residents with the majority being Chinese and a handful of them being Malay and Indian. The residents were mostly teenagers and adults, physically they were built like children. Many of the long-term residents were abandoned as children and handed over to the centre by police or hospital authorities. Most of them live out the rest of their days at the centre.
Working with Thomson Hospital, friends and family, YKF was able to raise RM22,300 for the association. In addition, YKF also donated rice, diapers and other food items worth RM2,500.
